IELTS

IELTS is an international standardized English language test for non-native English speakers. It's required for education, work, or migration to countries like Canada, Australia, the UK, and New Zealand.

Types of IELTS Tests

  • IELTS Academic – For students applying to universities or higher education institutions.
  • IELTS General Training – For migration, work experience, or secondary education.
  • IELTS for UKVI – Secure version required for UK visa applications.
  • IELTS Life Skills – For proving speaking and listening skills (A1 or B1 level).
  • IELTS Test Format

  • The IELTS test is structured into four main sections: Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking.
  • Listening: This section takes approximately 30 minutes. It consists of 4 audio recordings played only once, with a total of 40 questions designed to assess your ability to understand conversations and monologues in English.
  • Reading: This section lasts for 60 minutes and includes 3 reading passages with 40 questions. The difficulty and content differ depending on whether you're taking the Academic or General Training version.
  • Writing: Also 60 minutes long, this section contains 2 tasks. In the Academic version, Task 1 requires you to describe visual information (such as a graph or chart), and Task 2 is an essay. In the General version, Task 1 is a letter, and Task 2 is also an essay.
  • Speaking: This face-to-face interview with an examiner lasts between 11 to 14 minutes. It evaluates your spoken English through a short introduction, a topic-based speech, and a two-way discussion.
  • Test Options

  • Paper-based: Traditional test, fixed dates, results in 13 days.
  • Computer-based: More flexible dates, results in 3–5 days.
  • Registration Process

  • Choose location, date, and test type.
  • Upload passport and pay the fee (₹16,250 – ₹17,000 in India).
  • Receive confirmation email with instructions.
